Ultracoir
Engineered by Mother Nature
Ultracoir is the premium grade coconut coir that plants love. Loaded with natural rooting and disease preventing compounds, Ultracoir is "amazing" for starting seeds, hydroponics, and amending soils.
Disease And Drought Resistant
The coconut husks from which Ultracoir is made contain natural disease preventing compounds that protect the health of tender plants. It's also highly porous and can hold up to 9x its dry weight in water.
Helps seeds sprout and cuttings root quickly
Ultracoir coconut coir is rich in natural rooting aids which help its own seed take root on dry sandy beaches, even after months at sea. The spongy porous texture also promotes the rapid development of roots in hard and soft cuttings and its ideal pH of 6.0 +/- 10% is favored by most plants.
Environmentally friendly, renewable resource
Ultracoir is made from the husks or "shells" of the coconut which are a by-product of coconut trade. Unlike peat moss, which is rapidly being depleted from the wild, Ultracoir is a renewable resource.
Helps to feed plants over time
The sponge like properties of Ultracoir allow it to readily absorb and slowly release nutrients. This gentle yet consistent method of feeding has been shown to benefit plants over time. Click here to learn more about plant nutrition
Promotes plant health
Nearly 98% of the Oxygen that plants require to grow is taken up by their roots. When roots are starved of Oxygen, by overwatering or overly compacted soil, plant health suffers and growth becomes stunted. Tip necrosis (browning of leaf tips) is usually the first sympton of this condition. Ultracoir exhibits an excellent balance of water to air retention which means excess water drains quickly yet it retains plenty of moisture to service the plant's needs. when used alone or blended with other growing media (Ultracoir and/or Aerolite) or potting mixes, can prevent this problem by keeping thousands of pathways open for the exchange of gases and drainage of water. The result is a healthy rooting environment that will serve to maintain plant health and promote new growth.
Easy clean-up, safer than vermiculite
Forget about dirty hands, Ultrapear rinses right off with water alone and doesn't stain carpets as spilled soil often does. Since Ultracoir is "grown", not mined, it's free from the asbestos reportedly found in vermiculite.
