Smart GardensTM have a foot print of only 5" x 5" with 3' and 4.5' lengths overall. The three footer features (4) 5" cups which can be filled with anything from fine gravel, to perlite or any combination of other mediums to best satisfy the likes of your favorite crops. By varying the mediums in each 5" pot, you can even tailor each plants growing medium to serve it best. Since these gravity feed system can sit on the floor and the reservoir need only be a foot or two above (max 6 ft above), there are no pumps and timers, just like in the Smart Gardens Autopot models. Each chamber takes care of it's host plants just as if they were growing outdoors in the perfect environment.
The Secret behind the Smart Gardens are the patented SmartValve MKII, an ingenious device than operates as an automatic flood and drain "controller" if you will. No power, no timers required. It works completely on the properties of vacuum and flotation.
Hydroponics or soil use - Perfect for repotting too!
The Smart Gardens are also available as a ready to Grow Kits which come complete with our specially formulated organic growing media, liquid earth Nutrients, a generous reservoir, cups, root control mats, Smart Valve and shut off valves. Simply plug them into the included reservoir and feel free to splice in as many as you wish to watch your garden grow.
With their sophisticated Smart Valve watering technology, the Smart Gardens provide exactly the right amount of water through sub-irrigation, only when your plants need to feed so they never get over or under watered. And, since you can them with an organic-hydroponic media or your own potting mix, you can easily use two or more Smart Gardens to compare growth between soil and hydroponics, a very popular school and science fair project these days.
